Learners Involved in Flexible Education

Apply for Possible Admission

Bulloch County Schools is now accepting applications to its Learners Involved in Flexible Education (LIFE) program for the 2024 to 2025 school year. Interested students and families may complete this online application for possible admission. A program administrator will communicate with you once your application has been received and reviewed.

About Us

The Learners Involved in Flexible Education (LIFE) program is a non-traditional high school for students in grades 9 to 12, who have a documented hardship which makes attendance in a regular school setting an obstacle to their success. Students who have a medical or employment hardship that can be verified by their physician or employer are eligible to apply. The program can currently accommodate 120 students, 40 in-person and 80 virtually.

Flexible Education

The program offers both in-person and virtual learning options using Edgenuity. This allows students the flexibility to set their own class hours to complete coursework, which is ideal for students who need non-traditional school hours and settings.

Once a student is accepted into the program, he or she and the parent or guardian will attend a required orientation session with the program administrator. During this session the administrator will work with the family to develop a learning schedule that best meets the student's needs.

Students are supported by a team of seven certified teachers. They provide instruction and monitor students' progress weekly to help keep them engaged and on track to complete their required course credits. To remain in the program, a student must stay engaged and make adequate progress.

Hours of Operation

Students have access to Edgenuity 24 hours  a day, 7 days a week. Teachers are available at the William James Educational Complex's learning center for in-person instruction and office hours 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to 12 noon on Fridays. The program follows the Bulloch County Schools Calendar. Teachers are also available virtually via telephone, email, and Google Meet. The program's services are comparable to what is offered at the Coastal Plains Charter High School, which also operates in the Complex, but it offers more in-person hours.
