Jobs as a Substitute
Thank you for your interest in becoming a substitute employee with Bulloch County Schools. We hire substitutes for teachers, paraprofessionals, custodians, nurses and clerical positions.
Important Notice: Beginning February 11, 2021 through May 26, 2021, Bulloch County Schools has temporarily increased its standard salary scale for substitutes to the following:
- $135 per full day or extended day for all positions except nurses
- $250 per full day or extended day for nurses
Substitute Standard Salary Scale (see temporary rate increase above)
• Certified teacher(w/valid teaching certificate) substituting for a teacher = $85 per day
• Certified teacher substituting for a paraprofessional = $70 per day
• Non-Certified teacher or paraprofessional = $70 per day
• Clerical Sub = $70 per day
• Custodian Sub = $70 per day
• LPN Sub = $17 per hour
• RN Sub = $24 per hour
All potential substitutes must complete a required fingerprint and background check. The current fee for the background check is $51.50.
Bulloch County Schools employs substitute custodians, nurses, and clerical staff.
Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma or GED.
- To apply for a substitute nurse, custodian or clerical positions, please submit an application to be a substitute.
- Those interested in substitute nurse positions should contact Bulloch County Schools Special Education Executive Director Leslie Schlierf at 912.212.8580 or by email for approval.
All substitutes must complete a required online orientation. Upon approval or your application, you will receive an email about completing the required online orientation. After completion of the online orientation, you will receive an email with instructions on completing the required background check.

You may also apply in person at the Bulloch County Schools Transportation & Technology Annex located at 219 Simons Road, in Statesboro, Georgia, or call 912.212.8640. Their hours are 6:30 am. - 3:30 p.m., Monday - Friday.
Teachers and paraprofessionals must be at least 20 years of age and possess a high school diploma or GED. They also must have at least one (1) of the following qualifications:
- Possess a valid Teaching Certificate or Georgia PSC Certificate of Eligibility
- Possess a valid Paraprofessional License or have passed the GACE Parapro Assessment
- Possess an official college transcript showing at least sixty (60) semester hours
- Possess a Substitute Teacher Training Certificate

Required Substitute Teacher/Paraprofessional Orientation
Qualified substitute teachers and paraprofessionals must complete a required online orientation. Upon approval or your application, you will receive an email about completing the required background check. After completion of the background check, you will receive information regarding the online orientation.
